In Comodoro Rivadavia Center for Youth Activities they respond to more than a thousand young people and are the source of employment for more than a hundred teachers. ANDn the last few hours it became known, through a statement from the professors, that these spaces are going to be closed: “They do not cancel just a couple of hours of teaching, they lower educational quality, inclusion, the right to play and recreation”, they indicate in the statement.
The Youth Activity Centers are recreation spaces that operate in schools outside of school hours. The objective is that students can approach schools to carry out recreational activitiessuch as sports and various artistic activities, painting, theater, dance and many more.
These spaces are part of a program that has been developed for more than 12 years and offers the possibility for children, young people and adolescents to find a training space, in which their own skills, tastes and interests are enhanced. “We work on the affective, not all the boys have a good time at home and in the CAJs they find a space of emotional containment and affective in which the pedagogical approach is to learn to BE in community”, explained Noelia Riquelme, teacher of the activities.

In the year 2019 the program was terminated and the same activities were formed under the name of Artistic and Recreational Corridors (CAR), in 2020 the pandemic arrived and the activities were not carried out. During 2021, only 2 schools in Comodoro offered these activities to young people.
“We know that there is a bilge from the Ministry, With this justification, the schools were asked to drop the 10 hours assigned to each CAJ teacher, in order to develop these spaces with the young people,” commented Riquelme. In addition, during 2021 some teachers were unable to access payment for the class hours they provided.

Given the uncertainty and lack of information on the part of the Ministry of Education, all the teachers of the CAJ decided to publicly declare what is happening, to report that today more than ever students need these places to return to schools.
“Many boys will not be able to pay for these activities, if they seek them privatelythe school is left without a space for social support and rapprochement with young people” revealed Noelia Riquelme, student of the Faculty of Literature at ISFD 807, which works in the Perito Moreno School building.

The Youth Activity Centers are a public policy that comes from the national state and was financed by the Inter-American Development Bank, the funds reached the provinces through the national government. The workshops that were offered allowed a school bond and combated school desertion, generating a bond with the young people.
The activities are diverse such as music, cloth, walks to tourist places such as Pico Salamanca, camping trips, all related to knowing the territory “Where the kids find another space that is not the classroom and they can socialize and integrate, it is also free, we know that many families cannot afford an extra activity” expressed Riquelme.

According to journalistic records in 2018, schools No. 704, 707, 722, 723, 731, 732, 738, 742, 745, 760, 770, 797, 7715 and 7717 and Schools No. 718 of Rada Tilly had these recreation spaces during Saturday days.
