The City of Buenos Aires launches the Night of Tourism with tours, discounts and free buses

With the objective of accompany the reactivation of the tourism sector, the city of Buenos Aires launches the first edition of the Night of Tourism. The event, which will take place on Saturday, May 14, seeks that both residents and tourists from nearby districts enjoy the main attractions of the City, by moonlight.

The proposal includes activities from 7:00 p.m. to midnight: themed guided circuits, top-level musical shows, varied gastronomic offer with special menus, opening with Guided tours of embassies and emblematic hotels, discounts and benefits in accommodation that weekend, cultural offers with benefits and discounts at different points in the City.

This initiative is part of the launch of BA nightsan economic and cultural program, publicly and privately managed, that creates accessible circuits so that those who wish can discover the offer that each of the neighborhoods has, which includes everything from a calendar with discounts, promotions to free proposals on different themes .

The proposals

Programming will include 11 Nights BA: in addition to the novelties brought by Tourism and Notable Cafés, there will be events dedicated to record stores, theaters, music, gastronomy, temples, bookstores, antique dealers, the classic Night of the Museums and the little night with multiple cultural proposals for the little ones in the neighborhoods of Monserrat, San Nicolás, Retiro, Puerto Madero, Villa Crespo, Palermo and Recoleta. There will also be circuits that can be done on foot or on the tourist bus.

Thematic circuits:

-Argentine women invites you to learn about the stories of prominent personalities in Argentine history through heritage, art, dance and theater.

-Historic helmet It was designed to revive the history of the first square in the city (current Plaza de Mayo), recreating the customs and ideals of the characters who passed through it in the most relevant moments of our country’s past.

Tango Culture It begins its tour in Plaza Gurruchaga and continues to Av. Corrientes, where you can enjoy four tango shows in different formats.

International Circuit of Embassies on a tour of the most important embassies in the city ending with a musical show.

All the tours will offer discounts in restaurants and bars so that the participants know a part of the gastronomic and cultural experience of the city.

In addition, several points in which some activity is being carried out will be connected to each other through the Tourist buses of the City that will carry out night tours for the first time and, for this occasion, they will be completely free with prior registration.

Schedule

-Circuit 1: Argentine Women, in Puerto Madero. The first performance starts at 6:45 p.m. and the second at 7:00 p.m. They have a duration of 60 minutes. It starts at the Monument to Juana Azurduy (in front of the CCK) and ends at Silos (Plazoleta Reina de Holanda).

-Circuit 2: Old Town, in the Montserrat neighborhood with two functions. The first starts at 7:00 p.m. and the second, at 8:10 p.m.; with a duration of 50 minutes each. The meeting point will be the Monument to Juan de Garay (next to the Casa Rosada) and will end at Avenida de Mayo and Perú.

-Circuit 3: Tango Culture, will take place in Villa Crespo. It starts at 19:00 and will last an hour and a half. Its starting point will be at Gurruchaga 1040 (Plaza Gurruchaga) and it ends at the Monument to Osvaldo Pugliese, at Luis María Drago 438.

-Circuit 4: Embassies It will be centralized in Palermo Chico and will start at 7:00 p.m. and will last an hour and a half. The tour will begin at Mariscal Ramón Castilla and Rufino de Elizalde streets (Grand Bourg Square) and will end at Floralis Generica (United Nations Square). Along the way there will be a selfie point.

A 2022 with recovery of the tourism sector

According to data from the Tourist Observatory of the Tourism Entity, in the City of Buenos Aires this sector began to register a marked recovery from the last quarter of 2021 thanks to visitors from nearby districts. Thus, it was detected that in January 2022 numbers were very close to the record levels of 2019.

In this way, Easter meant the best weekend since the start of the pandemic, in tourist terms: More than 90 thousand national and international tourists arrived. Hotel occupancy was 92%, exceeding the records for 2019, and recorded spending was $3,073 million.

According to the Hotel Occupancy Survey, for the first two months of 2022, the City received 311,852 national tourists. Most of them came from the province of Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza, Santa Fe, Salta, Neuquén and Tucumán.

Generally, those who choose the city do so because it is usually the venue for great historical events in the country, for its varied cultural and entertainment offer, the diversity of its gastronomic offer and its attractions in different neighborhoods.

In this context, the number of foreign tourists also increased. According to the International Tourism Survey, for the first two months of 2022, the City received 10,900 tourists from other countries. Of them, 67% visited only CABA.

The main markets were Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, the United States and Peru.

The growth of the sector is also evident with the increase in the sale of Tourist Bus tickets. During the first quarter of 2022, 34,522 tickets were sold (53% of the tickets sold in the first quarter of 2019). Of this total, 65% were national tourists and the remaining 35% were foreigners. Within the main international origins, in the first quarter the presence of citizens from Brazil (20%), the United States (9.5%) and Chile (9%) stood out.

Lhe favorite corridors for national and international tourists are centered on Recoleta, where the main attractions are the Recoleta Cemetery and the Grand Splendid Athenaeum; in Palermo, the most valued places are the Rose Garden, the Parque 3 de Febrero, the Japanese Garden and its gastronomic offer, while in Villa Crespo it is Calle Murillo and La Cava Jufre.

In Puerto Madero, the Puente de la Mujer, Madero Tango, and the ARA Sarmiento Frigate and in the Historic District, which has the Palacio Barolo, the Casa Rosada and Av. 9 de Julio as the most visited places.
