The Soto del Real City Council dedicates the weekend of May 20 to 22 to science and technology, but mixing entertainment with training.
On Friday the 20th, families will be able to attend the PhÍzate show in which, through juggling and magic tricks, they talk about the ‘pH’ in aqueous solutions.
On Saturday 21, the participants in the children’s Science and Robotics workshops will explain experiments they have done throughout the course. In addition, the participants in the Robotics group will show the device invented to participate in the Lego League Challenge.
On Sunday, May 22, there is a Science and Climate Change Workshop with an experiment to talk about how pollution affects ecosystems.
The Soto del Real City Council dedicates the weekend of May 20 to 22 to science and technology, but mixing entertainment with education. It has organized three activities aimed at families, but especially at the youngest.
The ultimate goal is to bring science closer to the population in general, but especially to the youngest of the town. This has been stated by the Soto del Real City Council Culture Coordinator, Marisa Artigas, on Onda Cero Madrid Norte.
“The city council is committed to expanding everyone’s knowledge in the scientific field, but especially the youngest,” says Artigas.
On the other hand, the dominant note of the three programmed activities is to mix the playful with the educational. And also in one of the cases, that the workshop is left to boys and girls to explain to the adults the experiments they have done.
The programming devised in Soto will begin on Friday, May 20, with the Circo y Ciencia PhÍzate show by the company Circonciencia. It will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Center for Art and Tourism (CAT). It is a group of scientists who also juggle and other circus disciplines who are going to talk about pH, the measure of acidity or alkalinity of an aqueous solution, but in a fun and attractive way”, says Artigas. The ticket price is €3 and can be obtained at https://mutickers.com/…/circo-ciencia-phizate-cat-soto…
The second appointment is on Saturday, May 21, with a Science and Technology Fair that will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Soto Cultural Center. The students participating in the Science Workshop and the Robotics Workshop, two municipal initiatives, will guide through experiments that they themselves have designed. Also during the session the Robotics participants will show the device invented to participate in the Lego League Challenge. They have designed a robot and the challenge is for it to carry out certain activities in a fictional city.
Finally, on Sunday, May 22, a Science and Climate Change Workshop will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the Cultural Center. It is aimed at adolescents from 9 to 16 years old. The activity consists of scientific experiments to observe climate change. “They have devised a kind of dome that simulates the planet with various ecosystems and they are going to experiment on how temperature change affects them,” says Artigas.
In all cases, prior registration is required to participate.
