Porsche is launching the first special edition of its 100% electric sports car: the Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition as part of the Hockenheimring’s 90th anniversary celebration.

Perspective Writing

The new Taycan series is characterized by several differentiating features; for example, Gray Stone paint from the Custom Color Program combined with Bronzite accents. The Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur division customized the black leather interior with decorative stitching and many other elements in Island Verde.

The ’90 Jahre Hockenheimring’ emblem is present in different places and reflects the exclusive character of this Taycan GTS, which has an output of up to 598 hp (440 kW). The fundamental principle when designing this model was to relate the anniversary motto of the German circuit (‘mobile evolution’) with the concept of ‘traditional elegance’.

Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition

The Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition allows exclusive access to certain activities within the Porsche Experience Center (PEC) located at the Hockenheim racetrack. With the vehicle key, customers prove that they are owners of the special series and thus can enjoy some advantages; among them, driving on the test track, making free use of electric chargers for two years or having priority parking at the so-called ‘Frühschicht’ events (monthly meetings for Porsche fans) that take place in the experience center.

“The exclusive edition is not only a wake-up call to lovers of our fully electric sports car, but also a sign of the company’s connection to the Hockenheim racetrack,” said Alexander Pollich, Managing Director of Porsche Germany. “We congratulate the historic layout for its successful 90 years of life. With the Porsche Experience Center opening there in 2019, the track has become even more of a home for our brand.” During the anniversary year, a Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition will be on permanent display.

Exterior: special colors and high quality anniversary logo

“Noble materials, an elegant combination of colors and unusual details that we have never shown before in the Taycan. All of this makes this model unique,” said Alexander Fabig, Vice President of Personalization and Classics. The Gris Stone paint comes from the Custom Color Program and is reserved for the Special Edition. This striking and timeless exterior color from Porsche underlines the emotional character of the electric sports car. The contrasting Bronzite color reinterprets classic metallic tones and offers an elegant touch, both outside and inside.

Also striking are the 21-inch Mission E Design wheels. The edges take on the exterior color Stone Gray (high-gloss finish), while the five spokes and the central part are painted in Bronzite (satin finish). This double finishing of the rims gives the vehicle an even more exclusive appearance. The brake calipers are black (high gloss finish).

Other elements finished in Bronzite are the SportDesign side skirt trim strips, some rear diffuser components and the ‘Taycan GTS’ model designation on the tailgate. On the B-pillar is a plaque with the anniversary logo printed in relief, referring to the motif of the special edition. The ‘Hockenheimring Edition’ lettering next to the logo is painted in Stone Grey.

Interior: Island Verde and Paldao wood accent stitching

The design concept of the exterior continues inside. Island Green accent stitching contrasts with the black leather interior. This color combination is unprecedented in the Taycan range.

The open-pore Paldao wood inserts and other elements in Bronzite color also stand out; among them, the gear lever, the cup holders and the central and lateral ventilation outlets. The multifunction GT sports steering wheel adopts the color Bronzite on the outer frame where the control buttons are located and Island Green both on the contrasting stitching inside the rim and on the 12 o’clock mark. The floor mats feature a leather insert and accent stitching in Island Green.

anniversary logo
One of the most representative elements of the cabin is the anniversary logo that appears in relief on the center console lid. Also notable are the brushed black aluminum door trim strips, which display the illuminated ‘Taycan GTS’ model name, and the lighting system that projects the anniversary logo onto the floor. Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s attention to detail is also present in the vehicle key, which is painted in body color and features a high-quality laser engraving with the emblem of the special edition.

About Hockenheim Autodrome

The Hockenheim racetrack was inaugurated on May 29, 1932. The first activity it hosted was a motorcycle race when the layout of its track was still triangular. In 1938 its layout was modified and it became an oval-shaped high-speed circuit. On August 2, 1970, the first Formula 1 race took place at Hockenheim. Looking to the future, it aims to become a showcase for modern mobility. The circuit’s anniversary motto ‘mobile evolution’ describes this transition from the past to the future. ‘Traditional elegance’, meanwhile, refers to the long tradition and exclusivity of Porsche.

About the Porsche Experience Center at Hockenheimring

Located about 100 kilometers from the Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen headquarters, this user experience-oriented center was inaugurated in October 2019. Since then, it has provided moments of authentic euphoria to attendees. It has an exhibition of Porsche vehicles, an asphalt circuit and an off-road circuit, as well as dynamic areas for driving courses. These courses, which are taught by experienced instructors, can be taken with customers’ Porsches or with the extensive range of models that the center itself makes available to visitors.
