Fernando Alonso has completed a very round day at the Spanish Grand Prix with a fifth and a sixth place in the two free practice sessions. The Spanish rider assures that he wants to put on a good show, and for this Alpine must still work with the data collected today.

Alpine still has work to do

Fernando Alonso was able to bring joy to his fans at his home Grand Prix. In the first two free practice sessions at the Spanish Grand Prix, the Spaniard has achieved fifth place in FP1 and sixth place in FP2.

The two-time world champion is still far from the head of the race, but they give the impression of being competitive. After getting out of the car today, Alonso says it has been a very useful day for Alpine in which they still have to collect some data.

Today has been a reasonable day for us. After the winter tests in February, we had to do some tests, because the car has changed a lot since then.Alonso stated.

“We have tried to study a few things and carry out our normal tire evaluation work. We have collected some useful data, but it is clear that we have to continue improving the car for tomorrow”.

“The balance is not perfect, so there’s more work to do for qualifying tomorrow. I liked seeing the stands full and I hope we can put on a good show tomorrowFerdinand concluded.

Much to work on still

Alonso has not been the only one from the French team to speak, so has Pat Fry, technical director of the team, in which he confirmed what his driver said that they will have to continue evaluating the data obtained to improve tomorrow’s classification.

We have a lot of data to work on this afternoon. It’s been a key area for us right now, and we’re trying different things to improve our pace on that front. The improvements we’ve brought to this race are relatively small steps, but, they all count, they’re working well, and we are happy with them so far this weekendPat Fry commented.

In addition, the Alpine technical director commented that in today’s free practice sessions they focused on doing long runs, since this is an aspect in which they have failed a lot and they trust their pace in one lap.

We are reasonably competitive in single lap paceas we have done recently, but we we have concentrated on experiments to improve our pace in long runsAlpine concluded.
